LOST AND FOUND records
so, despite all of the bad feelings and press that this label got, you cant dent that they released some good (and interesting stuff)
i remember picking up cds at record stores of bands that i NEVER would have been able to track down pre-internet/ebay... like the Alone in a Crowd record, and all the comps and stuff.
has anyone come across any interesting stories, downloads, or anything relating to this label lately?
anyone have a favorite L&F release?

Re: LOST AND FOUND records
Lost and Found was always a weird label. On one hand, I was 14 and able to pick long out of print titles by Project X, Sick of it All, Wide Awake, etc. However, a couple years later I learned that these were outright bootlegs for which the bands received zero money. The thing that always perplexed me was how some bands like Battery and 108 would develop working relationships with such a label.
Re: LOST AND FOUND records
yeah exactly... Brian McTernan was totally in bed with that label hahaha
bootleg schmootleg. its not different from every Kenny Bloggins posting links to whatever hardcore record they want (cough cough). you hit it right on the head. 16 year old jav got to listen to something meaningful, not just Metallica or Nirvana. even thought the vehicle was questionable, the content was worthwhile.

There's definitely a difference. People like myself are making out of print music available for free, but a label like Lost and Found were taking the recordings and selling them, which technically makes them "in print", and should have resulted in the artists seeing a residual check from the sales. We all know that never happened though.
Re: LOST AND FOUND records
Despite their shitty attitude (or maybe because) they did release some stuff that was nearly impossible to get otherwise, especially in the early stages of the label. Stuff like Deathwish, The Abused, Malefice. Sucks that now those L&F releases themselves are damn hard/costly to get as well. They also released a number of comps that helped me discover a bunch of bands.
They run a huge-ass distro nowadays, for all kinds of shit, incl regular clothes (including kids clothes & underwear), and music of all styles (including jazz & reggae). Oh, and they also sell CD-masters of their old releases, I've never seen any other label do that, hahaha... Maybe they'll be the test-pressings of the future?!

STRAIN
L&F Bootlegged a Strain recording, so Strain released the 'Bomb Wedemark' CD, which was a CD of their early recordings and 7"s, on Heartfirst Records of Germany. Why 'Bomb Wedemark' you ask? Well, Wedemark is where L&F was located apparently.
Re: LOST AND FOUND records
Lost and Found ethics=terrible
Lost and Found releases, especially 108, "Threefold Misery", Damnation AD, "The Hangman" 7", and Undertow, "Edge Of Quarrel" CD= life-changing (even though some of that stuff came out domestically as well the first time I heard any of it was through L&F)

at least here in germany those bootleg cds were much cheaper than a normal cd.
