seriously one of the best bands of their time. i still claim "as tradition dies slowly" as THE vegan/edge metal album. nothing can or will ever top it. its perfect. the song Stones is definitely in the Top 5 intro songs of all time.... well to me it is. haha

MA has always been my favorite US hardcore band, and maybe even my all time fav hardcore band. i get in a killing jealous mood (i know very anti-MA) whenever i see your collections chip...

They were better than Culture.

people often compare them, but i really see no comparison between the two... culture was always more rich thurston anyway, and i dont know how much influence wylie had while he was in for the writing of born of you and deforestation. culture always seemed less technical and focused more on the dual guitarist, rather then morning again was more like a blackened hardcore guitarist (all the tremlo picking) being repeated the whole song.

no way, CULTURE and MORNING AGAIN, can't absolutely be compared !! They have their own style, own topics (even if they both speak of xvx)...

the only thing we can say, is MORNING AGAIN has a musical richness that CULTURE has not

the ONLY good thing about this band was the layout for "my statement of life.." and the green marble color of the vinyl. the songs on that one are MEH at best.

Culture > Morning Again

best hardcore band to come out of florida, besides Bloodlet (which didnt call itself hardcore) was Bird Of Ill Omen. ha. put that in your pipe and smoke it.

It's true Jav, they're consistently in my top 5. However, I'm extremely lost as to how people think they can't be seen as similar to Culture. The recordings with Kevin definitely took on a different sound, but the first recordings with Damien sounded a whole hell of a lot like Culture.

Jav always finds ways to trash bands.. which reminds me of his previous comment on another message board where he trashed BOIO... make up your mind man!

I had overlooked this band for a long time. It's good stuff. I picked up the 'Martyr' CD the other day and it's raging!

That's one hell of a collection you have there. Worth a lot of $$$$!

Love this band. Saw em a bunch of times on their European tours, including their last ever European show, with the band and half the crowd crying, and people moshing out on the street cuz they couldn't get in.

Best band to come out of Florida was Cease.

I saw culture at cheers in Miami at an Earth Crisis show. All of culture was on stage minus Damien. 20 mins. goes by and EC are getting pissed because it was late and Culture wasn't even supposed to play. Damien finally shows up and says he was taking a shit. Cheers is not the place to shit. Bird of Ill Omen also played with Damien on vocals that night.

I was at that show. if memory serves, someone (Greg Fish possibly) had threatened Rich and they almost didnt play. Great show...cold as fuck that night

me trashing Bird Of Ill Omen? i doubt that. one of my favorite bands to come out of florida. actually found "when love..." on maroon vinyl in the 99 cent bin of TKO records yesterday. would trade good stuff for BOIO shirt, even the bootlegs that came out of AZ a few years ago.

on a side note, i put the MA/ Shoulder split on ebay.

ive got all the BOIO vinyls. except maybe some test press, which tom rankine has and probly wont sell. but id kill for shirts. the only one i know who still has some is chip, but his are in large, and i dont wear large.. makes me look ghetto. i did speak with tom about the future of te bird, and now that he has his label, Sound Study, he said hed be interested in doing a remastered discography, and possibly some shirts with new design.. dont know where the idea has gone though, so if people are interested they should remind him that they still care about the bird.

HAND OF HOPE has been kicking my ass pretty constantly over the last few weeks. I think it's their best stuff!
